Dragonfly gymnastics at EPCOT

:) I found this little guy hanging out in the lily pond outside the China pavilion in Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park. I don’t know what he’s doing, but it looks like gymnastics to me! Click the photos – you’ll be taken to Flickr, and you can choose a different size to examine. You’ll see that the poor little fella’s wings are a little tattered and torn – I wonder how that happens, and how it affects his ability to fly?

  2. I’m always amazed when folks get photos of dragonflies. I can never get them to stay still long enough. Wonderful photo and looks like gymnastics to me!

  3. Have to admit, I’ve had a lot more trouble taking pics of butterflies than dragonflies – but I know what you mean about them not staying still, dammit LOL

  4. Did you take that with your phone or a camera? What a great shot. (And if it was your phone, I need that phone!) :) I love dragonflies. They eat the mosquitoes and that makes me happy.

  5. I didn’t know they ate mosquitos! I took it with my regular camera – Canon Power Shot SX110 IS.

I have my eye on another phone with a better camera… ideally, I would eventually like to have only ONE really high functioning device instead of two.

  6. Good shot!
When I was a kid,my brothers always told me that dragonflies would sew my ears shut.Since then,I have had an inordinate fear of them, but I’m getting over it,since I learned they DO eat mosquitoes.
