I can’t help it – every time I cross this bridge, I have to grab my phone and start snapping away like a madwoman. I just aim in the general direction, click away and hope for the best. By the way, this is the Sunshine Skyway, which spans Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida.

  1. Did you see my husband on the Sunshine?!! He was crossing it around 4:30 or so on his way to the Tampa Airport to head back home to Cleveland today. Lucky us, we get to cross it together with our kids next week! Yipee!!!

  5. I remember the first time we went over that bridge was soon after the accident where the boat took out one span and cars had to travel on the other span so it was just two lane. (whew, big breath after that long sentence). Anyway, my daughter was driving and started to panic. There was no room for her to pull over so she just had to keep going. It was pretty scary to look over and see where the other span had collapsed!

  7. Very nice shot!

I think i would do the same in case i will ever pass this bridge. The angle in this photo is so striking. The string looks like the ray of the sun. :) – so sunshiny.

  8. Hey bean – gonna spend some time in Tampa? It’s a beautiful area. Wish I had more time there when I go, but it’s usually business, so I don’t get to play much…

Pam, when trying to take a pic while driving, I just point and pray! This was done with my phone, which is designed to use one-handed. I think I just got lucky with this one!

Sorry, Chris – I guess I should have left some “you have been warned!” space just for you!

    Arlene, LOL at “sunshiney” :)

  11. It’s beautiful, who can blame you and with the sky as the backdrop I’m sure you don’t get different pictures all the time.

I feel the same way about the bridges I regularly cross. I had to take a picture each time I cross it/them.

  12. I love it! So colorful. We have few bridges and they are all plain and steel.

  14. Not going to be in Tampa Tink, I am going to be Captivated!! Flights are a lot less expensive than flying into RSW for us. By the way, should have said before, LOVE the picture! Pretty cool for shooting while driving!
