Critters from the Naples (Florida) Zoo

© Copyright 2008 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com Once upon a time, a cougar stuck his tongue out at me at the Naples Zoo (Just call me “The Cougar Whisperer”. The long name for the Naples Zoo is Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. The property was once privately owned by a botanist, who had populated it with plants and trees he’d collected from around the world. A few subsequent owners later, animals were added to create...

5 Ways Disney has defiled Tinkerbell

© Copyright 2010 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com Click the photos to see if a larger version is available in Flickr I am pretty much a Tinkerbell purist. With the exception of my “Mornings aren’t magical” coffee mug, I am generally a devotee of the original shot-glass sized Tink from the original 1953 classic film Peter Pan. Whenever I’ve purchased Tinkabilia, which has been frequent as you can imagine, I’ve stuck with classic Tink, whose magical...

Implement of Mickey-Headedness sold separately

July 24, 2010

© Copyright 2010 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com Maybe I just don’t eat enough eggs, so I’ve never seen them for sale. Or maybe this was just a very short-lived idea. Whatever the case, I never heard of these Disney Farm Fresh Eggs until I stumbled across a discussion about them on BlogCatalog this evening. It seems...

Adult beverages from around The World – what’s your fave?

© Copyright 2010 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com The appearance of this article in the Daily Disney made me smile. Soul Candy spirited beverage from the Walt Disney World Resort | TheDailyDisney.com from OrlandoSentinel.com So, I’m not the only one who can have a particular focus on Walt Disney World’s adult beverages, am I? I was especially delighted that a few of the beverages that were covered here are new to me – yay, another reason...

Disneyland, Disneyworld – what’s the difference?

© Copyright 2010 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com Here’s a fun little slide show from National Geographic, which depicts four Disney park attractions side-by-side with Imagineering’s inspiration for each. Geography of Disneyland — National Geographic Education. Cute, informative little gallery, and I love National Geographic – but I have a problem when they call their article, “Geography of DisneyLAND” and then lead off with the castle at Disney WORLD. At least they identified the correct location...

How to catch a snook at sunset

© Copyright 2010 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com A few weeks ago, I went shelling at Blind Pass around sunset. The tide was pretty low, and people were able to wade knee-high into the Pass. I stood on the Sanibel side and was interested in some kids who were playing on the jetty over on the Captiva side – fishing, horsing around, one of them striking a fencing pose with his fishing pole. All the while,...

Gulf oil spill – learning how to help

© Copyright 2008 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com Last Friday, I drove out past Sanibel Island and crossed Blind Pass over to Captiva Island. At the end of Captiva, there’s a resort called South Seas, which has conference facilities. I was there to get some safety training for beach cleanup volunteers – want to be prepared in case the Gulf oil spill makes its way to the Lee Island Coast of Florida. The drive looks short-ish...

Disney ADRs – are you a fan or a foe?

© Copyright 2010 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com Let’s talk about one of my “favorite” (NOT) Disney subjects – ADRs! For those who are acronyminally challenged (like me!), this means “Advanced Dining Reservations”. I would agree that one should expect crowds during a holiday and therefore it would be prudent to secure reservations for sit-down dining well in advance. However, I think Disney manufactures a certain level of hysteria surrounding sit-down dining by making 180-days-out reservations...

A surprise on the rose walk

© Copyright 2008 Tink *~*~* http://MyMobileAdventures.com click the photos to see larger versions in Flickr I have discovered the macro setting on my camera! And not only do I know where it is, I actually remember to use it on occasion. During a stroll on the rose walk in EPCOT this past spring, I noticed that I was in the presence of some of the smallest critters on Disney property – aphids on the...
