Need to think about a light meal (confession: I had a Mickey bar) and then it’s on to Kimonos for fun with friends
Sometimes this is faster than staying on the bus when you’re staying at the Swolphin.
Since I have been there and done that a few times over, I won’t be staying for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. Heading back to hotel, meeting up with friends again later for some evening frivolity at Kimonos.
Line is moving quickly, especially with friends to visit with.
Easy Fast Pass time, good ride. We are now in search of air conditioned attractions
Bonus points if you know where this was taken – and keep it clean, please!
Some adults are enjoying this too.
This wasn’t open last time I visited Walt Disney World – good to see it operating again!
Props piled up at Fantasyland Station – oh Ed excuse me, that’s actually passenger luggage 😉
A shady place to rest, eat lunch, fill your water bote, or get Fast Passea for Dumbo and Barnstormer.
So far, the Big Top appears to be just a huge merchandising area. I can hear the railroad trains going by – maybe there’s a stop here?
I hear it’s opening day (soft) for the Big Top…
Because what the MK REALLY needs is more character meets LOL
A couple of little sorcerers were entrances by this as I walked by
The crane started lowering this thing at the end of the stage show – and I thought for a minute that characters were being lowered to the stage! That would actually be cool and innovative, integrating construction into the story – get on it, Disney!
These guys appear every year. I don’t know why, but I don’t find that irritating the way I find the lame Food and Wine deco repeats irritating. I guess these guys just aren’t lame 🙂
I never see guests aboard this thing. Is it even allowed any more? I think I rode it on e, back in the 80s
You’re needed at the Magic Kingdom! I like the way this sign looks like it has been here for years and years.
You think maybe it’ Halloween? I hear clang clang clang goes the trolley, maybe… Going to investigate!
No matter how experienced on is at touring Disney, stuff happens. One blister can ruin your vacation, so you should always have moleskin available. This has been a public service announcement LoL
We’re standing in France to view the 10 PM presentation of Illuminations.
Italian tapas- like plates, and the desserts look to die for.
Empty sangria pitcher at Via Napoli in EPCOT. Awesome meal !
Via Napoli has the best pizza ovens LOL
Some of my friends will get that caption, and some will not 😉
I love Merida because she does not believe she is helpless, and she is not single-mindlessly pursuing a prince. She knows how to be happy into herself.
Going to duck into MouseGear to get to Festival Center. Have I mentioned that it is HE’LL hot?
Met more friends up at the African Outpost and walked them down front. Cooling of in a shop, then heading to Festival Center. It’s hella HOT – I may require a Mickey Bar.
I know lots of people who are at Walt Disney World this weekend and I hope to see all if the at least once!
Walking into EPCOT from the Swan is quicker than taking a Friendship boat. Yes, the sky really IS that blue 🙂
I have fond memories of taking refuge in the Swan’s courtyards to get some work done during a conference. So relaxing!
I am going to chill and catch some lunch, then head into EPCOT to find the gang. Stay tuned!
I took a side trip to Banana Republic, where I got a FREE dress to wear to my niece’s Sweet 16. Now I am finally on property at Walt Disney World – wheeee!
There’s a hint in the photo….
I just can’t resist this point and pray shot.
See ya real soon!
Always sorry to leave, but I know I will be happy to get home to my own bed.
I had a nice afternoon with my family and now I must make the long drive back to Fort Myers. Will pick up a snack on my way out and hop a monorail to the TTC. Hope traffic doesn’t suck!
Or maybe they came FOR dinner!
It rains in the Amazon 365 days a year. That’s almost every day 😉
Pirate parade has occurred – now we await the imminent arrival of the cap’n
I think I’m about two loads back in the queue.
What a chEARful welcome 🙂
Monorail or boat?
The conference is over and now it’s time to play! Going to meet my brother and family for lunch. Guess where? Here’s a clue…..
Good Morning! Taken around 8:00 am today while passing through CityWalk on my way to classes at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Weather coolish and breezy. Glad the humidity broke because that might mean running outside later this afternoon.
Just wandering the resort between conference sessions. I found myself near the site of the luau, where stone idols are nestled in the foliage here and there. Yes, I have been to the luau – yes it is fabulous! Great food and fine entertainment, plus the company of good friends all conspired to make it a pleasantly memorable evening *shout out to Joy* 🙂
I am attending a techie conference at Loews Royal Pacific but staying off-site. The first day, I had to practically sever a limb to liberate my car from the Royal Pacific parking lot. It occurred to me afterward that what I should do is use my Universal Orlando annual pass to park for free at Universa,l and then walk into the Royal Pacific from CityWalk. So that’s what I’ve been doing. Hey, even if I had to pay to park at Universal, it would still be less than parking at the Royal Pacific. Plus, I get to see how great CityWalk looks in the early morning when there’s hardly anyone around yet :). If you look closely at the left of the tower, you’ll see the waning moon.
A stand of bamboo bears the scars of passions past. I wonder how many relationships memorialized this way actually go the distance?
After my run through the Royal Pacific, the skies turned threatening. I went to Pastamore to grab a light dinner, watched It rain and Shazam’d some tunes while I dined at a table just inside the doorway. Felt good to cool off – had it been overcast, I would not have enjoyed that run in the humidity at all! Glad to have had the opportunity to run through a pretty place.
Done with business for the day. Now I am waiting for the water taxi out back of the Pacifica Ballroom convention center at Loews Royal Pacific in Orlando. I plan to go back to the car and get my running clothes, then use the resort running routes to get in some mileage and burn off some of this conference food!
Really just messing around with macros and light while it’s quasi-overcast outside. These orchids have been stuck all over the trunks of the palm trees here in the courtyard. I like sitting here, listening to the fountains.
There are lots of rocks serving as mulch in the center courtyard of the Loews Royal Pacific resort. We are asked to refrain from pitching them into the fountain, lest our friends become frightened
It’s been fun watching the progress of this place as it has been built. I think it came out good and it looks like a lot of fun.
Slash is playing here tonight, so it was a bit busy on my way in. Had a tuna salad at Pastamore. Going to walk around a bit before heading back to the hotel.
On a break from business meetings – not a shabby view of Universal Islands Of Adventure!
It rained in great, monsoon-like waves and. Noww it’s delightfully cool. Busy week ahead of me – gotta get a good night’s sleep. See ya real soon!
Thanks for everything, Mickey dude. You rock 🙂
I admit it – I’m monorail-obsessed. Standing beneath the jacaranda trees, breathing deeply of their final fragrant blooms before heading out of the park. I think I will go to Downtown Disney for dinner.
Granted, Cast Members probably take a lot of crap from Guests, but there are aspects of the job that just can’t be beat. Imagine getting paid to blow bubbles. Sweet!
STITCH! Look who I found riding around atop a remote-controlled monorail (he’s rubber-banded to it). The CMs seem To be having lots of fun with this simple but über playful concept of delivering stickers to guests. Loving it!
Random star shaped topiaries near the Camera Center in EPCOT
Great blue heron chillin’ by the lagoon near Odyssey. I am not sure why but he keeps holding his beak open. Maybe herons pant? Will have to look this up!
Passing from the Haitian garden into the Outpost as the Earth floats by.
You can smell this guy way before you get here. The scent reminds me of that old Strawberry Shortcake doll that was popular when I was a kid.
The sacred portal between this world and that of the spirits is adorned with… Cars? Well, alrighty, then!
Found a tub of lantana growing in Morocco (at least, I *think* it’s lantana). Constantly amazed at what a camera phone can do, given the right light conditions.
The instructions indicate that it is a lot easier to weave with a garden hose if it has first been softened. And how do you soften a garden hose? Leave it out in the sun for a few hours!
There are several fun displays that use ordinary objects in unique ways. I was admonished to get this dude’s name right when captioning the photo. So, everyone – meet Clay 🙂
Back in February, I walked through EPCOT with 2/3rds of the @badelves and we noted that the crepe myrtle trees all looked dead. They were positively bare, devoid of flowers, leaves, or twigs. Now look at them!
I think I need to be bad for lunch. After all, "French Women Don’t Get Fat" lol
What a sweet tableau, as seen from the bridge looking down into France. The fragrance of jasmine growing here is such a tease, coming and going with the breeze.
What body of water lies between the UK and France? Why it’s the English channel 🙂
It could be argued, especially if one is not a native English-speaker, that the singular of "leaves" should be "leave"… !!!
You probably can’t see them bobbing around on the lower left of the pool, but I can – look for a lugged sole, like a hiking boot or sneaker has. I took some video with my camera zoomed in – will find out tonight if that worked. In the meantime, if anyone can tell me the mystery of the shoes in EPCOT’s Canada pavilion, I’ll be your best friend.
I am headed to the falls to see if I can spot the mystery shoes bobbing around in the water. I still haven’t been told what the shoes signify or why they are there. Apparently, this is privileged information, disseminated only to those who have worked at EPCOT’s Canada pavilion. Let’s go look….
I hope you all appreciate this, cause its hot hot HOT standing in the sun waiting for the monorail to glide by ROFL 😉
I think I will take a stroll down the Rose Walk 🙂
Have yet to catch Characters In Flight while it is actually running.
Always loved the ballooning sequence over at Impressions de France.
And I love these dangly things in Living With The Land, which represent the seasons.
I will put ballooning on my bucket list!
I am so happy that Disney chose to feature old school Fantasia at the front entrance this year. These characters deserve the place of honor. Here’s a Mickey + Monorail shot. I’m off to find breakfast that won’t cause me too much caloric grief!
"no no no don’t know what I’m gonna do – gotta get back to you!"
I had a little red tricycle when I was a child. I rode it straight into a hot steam heat radiator the Christmas I received it. I was only two, but man do I remember THAT!
I can hear the lads in the square doing their British invasion flower power set. Yeah I know I was going to leave. I’m just taking the scenic route 😉
Just chillin’ in the little theater that takes up the center of the Festival Center. What I might do is go check into the hotel, hit CityWalk for dinner, and come back here bright and early tomorrow to get some more touring in before the heat of the day sets in. Does that sound like a plan?
About time they put something besides those big plastic flower power daisies in front of the Festival Center. Well done, EPCOT 🙂
Every now and then while walking around the Flower and Garden Festival, you get a whiff of something and do an impression of the dog in UP! – "Squirrel!" – swinging your head this way and that, so you can find the source if your olfactory delight. Marigolds are factoring in heavily, with magnolia close behind.
Hot hot hot!!! Making my way to Mouse gear and some air conditioning.
There’s more but it is going behind a cloud. Great sentiment for the Flower Power season!
Farmer Mickey strikes a pose at the World Showcase Plaza.
To be fair, I don’t seem to grow up either …
The jacaranda are are still blooming and smelling fabulous.
He’s apparently taped to a remote control car, which then transports him around delivering Mickey stickers to guests. This was #3 on my fabulous cast member hit parade thus far today.
Right now, I am both thirsty and hungry. Where should I go for lunch?
OH! It’s Cinco de Mayo! 🙂
Guarded by hungry-looking frogs, a little pot of butterfly goop floats atop a stick above a flower bed in the Butterfly Garden tent. Saw lots of varieties, including the zebra longwing, Florida’s state butterfly. It’s SO hot in there! Time to continue on…
That’s what the GPS lady always says, but I don’t need GPS to get to The happiest Place on Earth. I had not been here more than 2 minutes and already had three great CM encounters.
1. The security dude doing bag check looked deep into my eyes and said, "Have fun, Princess."
2. The CM at the turnstiles took note of the fact that Goofy is on my AP and said, "hey there, no goofin’ around now haw haw haw!" just like Goofy
3. I’ll tell you the third one in a minute…
