Casa Ybel serves weak drinks, originally uploaded by Tink*~*~*.
Now we’ve moved on – we’re having pina coladas during “happy hour” at the Casa Ybel pool bar, “Coconuts”. There was live music for a while, but we were really too late to catch the whole performance. It’s a shame that the food and drinks are so very expensive here, because the environment is pleasant on a Sunday afternoon.
I see that you all went to Casa Ybel and West Wind for drinks and then to walk on the beach. I take it these places don’t mind you doing that if you are going to the bar? Just asking because I was told by someone that the hotels frown on people parking in their lots and getting a drink and then using their beach. I would love to go for drinks and then a sunset walk in different spots. Please advise. Thanks!
Hi Kim –
As far as I know, the only pool bar on Sanibel that no longer wants walk-up patronage is the Sundial. To my knowledge, the others I’ve been to welcome people coming to the bar. Casa Ybel even has a sign that says people are welcome to eat and drink at the pool bar. As for walking on the beach, I think this is actually the first time we did that while pool bar hopping. Last time we went to Casa Ybel for drinks, there was a wedding on the beach and naturally we didn’t want to disturb them. Besides, it started to pour and the entire wedding party came running in off the beach under a tent to finish the ceremony! Anyhow, As far as I know, we aren’t doing anything frowned upon – I think it’s just the Sundial that doesn’t want our business.

Just curious…is that somewhere between thumbs up and thumbs down? 😉
