Next Friday after work, I’ll head over to Orlando to meet up with some friends for dinner. We’re going to cheer some other friends who are running in Disney’s Princess Half-Marathon, and take in the Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT.

Be sure to check in over the weekend (Saturday March 6th and Sunday March 7th)for some mobile blogging fun – I hear we’re going to hit the tequila bar in Mexico 😉

Sand sculpture critters at Walt Disney World

🙂 Several years ago, the BBC presented a series called Planet Earth, which explored wildlife stories as they unfolded in natural habitats. The story goes, there was footage to spare, and since Disney, like country radio, is all about “the story”, there was enough to form stories about three animal families and release it as a DisneyNature production called Earth.

This past spring at the 2009 International Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT, the film was being publicized in the form of sand sculptures strategically located in the fountain plaza just outside of MouseGear. There were some Cast Members on hand, as well as activities for smaller children. Me, I just thought the sand sculptures were cool – enjoy!

ORIG. TRIED 830 AM 🙂 I’m awake and enjoying coffee on my little balcony. They have Starbucks African Kit-something in-room (too lazy to go inside and look).

The plan for today – well, I need to find my brother, because I have his t-shirt. It’s got the sea gulls from Finding Nemo on it, saying "Mine Mine Mine Mine….". And I think Deb should arrive around noon-ish, so we’ll want to get her all checked in and all. After that – who knows? I do want to check out the Festival Center, which should be open today.

But for now, I’m just going to finish my coffee while enjoying the sights and sounds of the resort waking up. I can watch the boats come and go for a while I daydream about nothing in particular. Life is good 🙂

Shout out to mah peeps at the Walt Disney Boards

🙂 Just wanted to give a special shout out to Arny and all my friends at the Walt Disney Boards. I like knowing that you guys are following along during the day, and that there will be some comments waiting for me on the forum when I get back from long, hard days trekking around the parks (oh poor me, trekking around the parks, LOL!). Just wanted you all to know that you are appreciated! 🙂

In other news – yes, I bailed on EPCOT and the rain early. I came back to the Dolphin and had a burger at The Fountain, and then I picked up some packages at the hotel’s gift shop, Daisy’s Garden (my spoils from having stimulated the economy). Now I’m just cruising the web for a bit before turning in. Touring in extreme heat just kicks my butt!

I’ve reached Italy. Battery looking weak… Still raining lightly, and it is SIGNIFICANTLY cooler now, with a lusty wind that wafts the delicious aromas of the Italian perfumes shop all the way into America. I could do some serious damage in that shop… *le sigh*

It has started to thunder and rain lightly. I barely escaped the slushie line to the safety of the back entrance to Les Chefs de France before it started coming down. Mo’ Rockin’ is playing on full frenzied force. I’m in EPCOT, I haz tunes, I haz slushie – life is good!

It’s clear to me that Disney has been cutting corners on the Flower and Garden Festival for several years. Among this year’s disappointments -the garden sculpture section is bare, the rainforest section of Mexico is not dripping with orchids, and now you can see that the festival center is only open on the weekends. I guess Deb and I will come back on Friday or Saturday. I hope there aren’t any more disappointments…

I came to the Magic Kingdom This morning to take pics of my niece in her Cinderella costume, which her exceedingly cool aunt bought for her. Now I am off to EPCOT to take my time thru Flower and Garden Festival and do stuff you can’t do with a four year old in tow. Will reconnect with da fam for dinner.

Late start today . Boy, did it feel good to sleep in! – especially with the "Heavenly Bed" here at the Dolphin. Heading to the Magic Kingdom for a bit, to see a certain small princess go to lunch at the castle in the Cinderella costume her auntie (moi) gave to her for just this occasion. On the bus now, strap-hanging like days of yore on the subway. See ya real soon!
