The Life and Times of… SEAFOOD???

(click HOME above and then scroll down to see if I’m mobile blogging today)

Blogless_Logo_smI’m writing this on Wednesday night, so not as to violate the sanctity of Blogless Thursday. I just wanted to let you all know that even though I am taking Thursdays off from blogging, there is a special treat for you all waiting at the blog of Hermi T Crabbe. You remember Hermi, don’t you? My young friend, Miss Bubble Gum, met him at the Strawberry Festival last year, and they were instantly smitten with one another. Tragically, they were separated by the pervert Elmo last summer, so they are only just now back to communicating once more.

IMG_0073-Miss-Bubble-Gum-Johnny-No-Face-goofy-friskyWhere has Miss Bubble Gum been all this time? Why did she not meet Hermi at St George’s Island last summer? And who’s this so-called “Johnny No Face” dude? To find out, you’ll have to trot on over to Hermi’s place and read Miss Bubble Gum’s guest post titled “Photo Shoot featuring Miss Bubble Gum and Johnny No Face”. I’m sure you will enjoy it!

See ya Friday for Skywatch!

Blogless Thursday: Memes I Owe

Blogless Thursday: Memes I Owe

Blogless_Logo_smYou might think that I have forgotten my vow not to blog on Thursdays. Well, I have not forgotten. I am writing this on a TUESDAY and setting it up to publish itself on a Thursday. Therefore, I am not blogging. My blog is, in fact, blogging for me. In a court of law, the most I could be convicted of is conspiracy to blog, or perhaps pre-meditated blogging. But not actual blogging.

Anyhow – I owe people memes. I got tagged a bunch in the past month or so, and never made good. So I’m-a-makin’ good now! I used the feature in the dashboard of my blog that shows me who has linked to me in order to find all the blogs of all the people who tagged me. If you have tagged me and I didn’t respond or list it here, please bring it to my attention!

Flickr Six Of Six
To friendshipLast in, first out – it’s my pal banannie The idea is to go to page 6 of your Flickr photostream and select the 6th photo to post on your blog. So that’s what I’ve done, and what I found there was this photo that I mobile photo blogged a couple of weeks ago from Biddle’s Bucket on Sanibel Island while I was there with my friends doing the Sanibel Bar Crawl. The caption is “To Friends”. Ain’t that the truth!

I don’t think I actually know six people who use Flickr that I could tag on their blog. I think I know two aside from the person who tagged me. So here’s to you, Elaine – tag, you’re it! And you too, Gayle – tag, you’re it!

Six Random Things About Myself
Up next, we’ve got a two-fer. Both Debbie and Robin tagged me with this one

The Rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you – see above, it was Debbie and Robin
2.Post the rules on your blog – this is what you are now reading
3. List 6 random things about yourself.
4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged and leave a comment on their blog

SIX Random Things About Myself
ONE. I am currently wearing a gold fishie necklace that was given to me by Niece No. 5
TWO. I call the bathroom in my master suite “The Palace” because it is so freakin’ huge
THREE. I miss crunching the leaves while walking up to my voice teacher’s house every autumn – she had the best leaves!
FOUR. Can’t wait to see The Biggest Loser tonight!
FIVE. I wish I had started studying earlier for this exam I’m taking on Saturday morning in Orlando. I keep doing practice tests each night, and I’m getting a little better each time, but still not where I want to be…
SIX. I’m going to violate the rules of this meme and NOT tag anyone. It was hard for me to come up with “six random things” and I have read that on other people’s blogs too, so I’d rather not torture them!

Kreativ Blogger
Kreativ Blogger AwardI got tagged with this one by Gayle. It’s not just a meme, it’s also an award called Kreativ Blogger. It even has it’s own logo! For this one, I have to name –

SIX Things That Make Me Happy
ONE. Being able to enjoy the sunshine and warmth of Florida year-round makes me happy.
TWO. Having time for a life makes me happy.
THREE. I’m an information junkie, so the internet makes me happy.
FOUR. Dove miniatures make me happy
FIVE. Seeing my family and friends makes me happy, especially if they come to visit me here!
SIX. Music makes me ecstatically happy.

Wow that one was MUCH easier than “random things”! And now, I have to tag six people.

Tootie at Sanibel Toot’s Lazy Days , Snowbird at Sand Between My Toes Christa at Teetering on the Edge of the Empty Nest , Melora at A Little Slice of Life Ed at Caribbean Soul and Christene at ChrisCandJonJ – Our Vanilla Life – TAG, YOU’RE IT!

This last one is also from Gayle. It’s actually a SEVEN random facts meme. Since I’ve already done six of them, I’ll just add one more –

SEVEN. I hate putting on makeup, but once it is on, I’m all like, “Dang, woman – you look EXCELLENT” 🙂

And with that, I do believe I’ve caught up on every meme I owe! If I didn’t catch them all, please drop me a comment with a link and I shall mend my memeful ways and get right on it!

You thought I was kidding, didn’t you?

(a Blogless Thursday post)

Seriously, mah peeps – it is Blogless Thursday, and therefore, I am devoid of blogging today.  No guest blogger posting, and definitely no posts from me.  Honest, there’s nothing here to see, unless you’d like to investigate to find out what da heck Blogless Thursday is all about.

See you tomorrow for Skywatch!  🙂

Harbes Family Farm’s Maize Maze

(a Blogless Thursday post)
Featuring guest blogger WalkGood, so Tink~*~* can be blogless today.

Here on the Loverly Isle of Long, we still have quite a few farms and wide open spaces. But you must travel “out East”, and a good place is Jamesport on the North Fork, home to working farms and vineyards.

My family took a Saturday trip to Harbes Family Farm, for their corn maze and pumpkin picking.

Harbes001 30647

First order of business was chowing down on some of the sweetest corn around. Fifteen minutes to roasted perfection.

Harbes002 30648

Then off to seek our fortune in pursuit of GOLD in the Wild West Corn Maze.

Harbes003 30713

There are two giant corn mazes on 8 acres of real live corn fields. You get a treasure map that doesn’t really look like the maze at all. More of a souvenir. The first maze is pretty simple, which leads you to the more complex maze. In there you must find some “equipment” so you can navigate the lost mines and claim your gold.

Harbes004 30659

The Maze Marshall gets you started with basic instructions. You also get a flag to wave if you get lost. Other Marshalls up in towers will help you along the way.

Harbes005 30658

Yes, it is as high as an elephants eye. That’s why you carry a long pole flag in case you need help.

Harbes006 306661

The other Marshall will help you, but he teases you a bit and busts your chops. You must yell out Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaawwww! quite often to get his attention. Mostly it’s just for his own amusement.

Harbes007 30662

Harbes008 30663

Along the way you will find some large paintings. A few of them have a cut out to insert your face from behind for picture taking of your traveling party.

Harbes009 30692

At the end of the first maze you are congratulated. Not sure if this is an attempt at Roy Rogers, John Wayne or maybe Grandpa Harbes?

Harbes010 30671

Well now we are off to the bigger complex maze, in pursuit of the tools needed for mining some gold. A minor miner, map in hand, leads the search.

Harbes011 30674

When you find one of the four items, you ring an iron triangle in celebration. Could also be bragging rights to the other searchers who are going in circles.

Harbes012 30689

Then to prove you found the items you take a pencil rubbing onto your map from each item.

Harbes013 30690

Harbes014 30691

After you have found the shovel, lantern, pick axe and dynamite (and taken their picture rubbings) you must find the entrance to the long-lost Great Mine, Dusty’s Goldmine.

Harbes015 306700

Then the Sheriff will award you with a gold piece.

Harbes016 306710

Next our ultimate quarry….. PUMPKINS!

Harbes017 306706

Harbes018 306733

Not sure if these are willow trees, but the corn maze map calls this Blue Willow Pond.

Harbes019 306737

Harbes019 306735

What trip to a farm in Autumn is complete without an authentic hayride.

Harbes020 306741

It really helps to have one of these to lug your pickings around.

Harbes021 306754

Thanks for following along!
