It’s a pretty night at the Food and Wine Festival. I wonder if all the crazies will come out to EPCOT tonight?

An old French classic
I haven’t had a Napoleon in years. It was time – and it is still awesome 🙂
More eating on EPCOT
I took the monorail back and my first stop is Ireland. The Fisherman’s pie is flavorful but the Meade honey wine is HELLA sweet. I like it ok enough to finish it, but not ok enough to go back for more.
Icon of the evening

Grand Marinier slushie – inspired !
One of the most inspired offerings of the World Showcase – Grand Marinier slushie with a shot!
Oh c’mon EPCOT!
It’s not even Halloween yet! At the Port of Entry shop.
Moody skies over EPCOT’s Japan
As symbolism goes, nothing in all of Disney World speaks to me quite as eloquently as the torri gate at EPCOT’s Japan. It marks the transition from the material world to the spiritual world. Today’s sky only adds to the ambiance.
VIDEO: #epcot30 Illuminations
A special edition of ILLUMINATIONS: REFLECTIONS OF EARTH was presented at EPCOT in Walt Disney World on the evening of that theme park’s 30the anniversary on October 1st 2012. Here is some really, REALLY primitive video of the event. The show ran 18 minutes long with the extra tribute fireworks, which reverberated in the ears and chest, and scared the heck out of the local flock of ducks (at about 17 minutes, 41 seconds, you’ll see a few of them leaving). We had the EXCELLENT harvest moon alongside the show too, dancing in and out of clouds that flashed frequently with heat lightning. It was nice of Disney to arrange that for us 😉 Hope you all enjoy.

Vegan options at EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival
I had the "chicken" yesterday – it was actually not bad!
Unlocking a Norwegian mystery in EPCOT
As I exited the stave church in EPCOT’s Norway, this rune stone began to sputter and glow!
T-shirt from American Adventure
Laugh and the world laughs with you! Go to the My Mobile Adventures Facebook page for a brief video from American Adventure in EPCOT.
From the Florida Local kiosk at EPCOT
The Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT has installed a Florida Local kiosk right beside American Adventure. Management is giving them an award at moment and videoing it. The guys at the Florida Local kiosk are really nice and friendly. Drop by if you are in the area!
Fife and drum corps – American Adventure
We just had ravioli in Italy and something in Poland – walking a friend back to International Gateway.
Hidden Mickey in Morocco
Of course not. How could you even SUGGEST that I would stage a Hidden Mickey? 😉
A cormorant poses in World Showcase
Second time ever, taking the boat across. This time, were headed to Morocco.
Gratuitous monorail shot
We happened to be passing by 🙂

In search of coffee at Walt Disney World
There is a bit of a breeze and the clouds are sailing by at a good clip. Luggage stowed, all checked out, time for coffee
Exiting Tutto Gusto
We can hear Sugar Ray playing from American Adventure. Going to find a spot for the special Illuminations show in honor of EPCOT’s 30th Anniversary.
Tutto Gusto theming
We are at a table by the kitchen, and his lion is on the wall.
We’re baaaaack
We liked I so much for lunch, were back for dinner!
The American Adventure – promised land
We know our reward for marching up here will be AIR CONDITIONING!
The view from Belgium in EPCOT
Morocco looks gorgeous against the amazing blue Florida sky. It’s really humid but we found some shade.
The scallops from New Zealand
WELL worth it! Wish this was available as a full meal. Had the Chardonnay too.
Weather coming into EPCOT
It was raining in Animal Kingdom earlier – guess its coming over here now
Read and heed in EPCOT
I’ll spare you the lecture. Just don’t feed the animals ok? Thanks!
Where art thou, Duffy?
Our friend Ed surprised us today, and now he is horribly broken up about missing Duffy
Brutalizing Donald Duck
This is just so wrong!

Lunch time!
Framed by the Friendship boat
Should reach Germany In a jiffy. Then it’s on to Italy for a little wine cellar action for lunch 🙂
Apple strudel from EPCOT’s Germany
It’s got Werther’s caramel sauce on it – i’d be even happier with a more generous squirt of the sauce but it’s pretty good.
Big winner: the mahi mahi from EPCOT’s Brazil kiosk
This is truly delicious ! And it goes well with the mojito from the Caribbean kiosk
Listing “meh” thumb for the Caribbean beef at EPCOT
The coconut mojito is interesting but I didn’t see any straws. I expected the beef to be spicy – it’s good, but barely spiced. Not what I thought Caribbean beef should be.
Still one of my favorite sights at EPCOT
I still need to compose my thoughts about "flow" and the part that the torii gate plays in getting there. Fodder for a new blog (stay tuned…)
Disney picks the best times to refurbish (not)
Why does Disney choose festval time to refurb? So far, I am halfway around World Showcase and two countries (Japan and Cananda) are enshrined in walls of Walt quotations. Who makes these decisions, anyway?
I leaf Canada… I LEAF Canada???
I walked away scratching my head over this one…
EPCOT’s Canada pavilion is under rehab, so I am unable to check on the status of the "mystery shoes". Perhaps they will make their triumphant return in December? One can hope!
My “passport to a world of flavors”
Loaded and ready to party! This wrist-carried gift card is SO much better than dragging out the wallet every time you want to eat or drink- which is, after all, why we are here, right?
The verdict: Kalua Pork Slider and Seven Tiki Mai Tai
Half a thumb, all credit going to the mai tai. The slider is too much bread, not enough pork. But hey, this is Disney – no one said there was value involved LOL
Once Upon A Dream
I know you; I walked with you once upon a dream…
Found the sun just in time for sunset
It’s going down over Disney’s Yacht Club and sending a last few rays into EPCOT’s France. I expect it to get colder as soon as it sets – it’s quite chilly already!
Our reward for getting drenched in Walt Disney World
It’s like God goes, "Awww, we got you all wet – here’s something pretty for ya." 🙂

Review: by-the-slice pizza at EPCOT’s Via Napoli
Don’t do it. If I had any free hands, this would have gotten a big thumbs DOWN. However, it is raining on and off and no one has been by to squeegee the outdoor tables. Not wishing to put my plate down in a puddle, I took cover in that alcove near the stairs with the lady’s head on the bannister.
The "crust" – and I use that term loosely, since there isn’t anything remotely "crusty" about it – is bready, which is typical of Sicilian-style pizza. Neapolitan-style pizza does not seem to be available at the window. Since there’s nothing crispy going on anywhere on this thing, the "crust" is a FAIL. If you were expecting more than half a teaspoon of tomato sauce (I was), then you will be disappointed. The cheese at least is pretty fresh.
They are clearly making the take out window pizza on the cheap – VERY cheap. I won’t be doing this again unless someone – ok MANY someones tell me that it has improved.
FAIL
Wise counsel from Walt Disney
There’s a little refurb going on in EPCOT’s China
Hollywood juniper outside EPCOT’s Norway
This is planted near the topiary troll (trollpiary!). It is feathery and pretty and it smells good too!
Where in EPCOT Am I?
Storm clouds are forming. The air is by turns stagnant or breezy but still hot, hot, hot. Chez Bro called and said he’s going down to The Art Of Disney store so I’ve sought air conditioning… guess where?
Spiritual Gate in EPCOT’S Japan
I admit a certain fascination with the whole concept of a gate that marks a sacred space and may even be a portal to worlds beyond….

Return of the shoes! In EPCOT’S Canada
I’m excited! You might not be able to see them but the shoes are bobbing around beneath the waterfall once more. I will break out the Canon and take some video
Beautiful as always – EPCOT’s Canada
Do you think they will sell me that sweet little cabin made of stone? It would be a lovely, Thoreau-like place to live…
Back to La Cava
I’ve cut myself off but I’ll hang out with the gang and close the place
Dinnner from the American Adventure
We had so much guacamole and etc. at La Cava, I feel it’s time for a prudent dessert. But I wish it was a la mode….
STILL pouring in EPCOT
We are waiting it out…
Gimmee Shelter at EPCOT’s Italy
It decided to storm as we were on line for Herman’s Hermits. We have sought shelter under the portico in Italy.

Ordering in – La Cava del Tequila at EPCOT
They don’t serve the appetizers they used to so we are forced to import them from counter service.
“Mecca” at Epcot
We are at La Cava – of course!
On the way to Mecca
Yes, EPCOT’s Germany sells an “adult slushie”
This here is a Lossberg Lemonade. it’s got a cherry liquor running through it. Refreshing!
The Walt Disney World Adult Slushie Tour
Here’s a Grey Goose slushie from France. we are headed to Germany after this for a Lossberg Lemonade 🙂
It’s tough to be him

Fetching a beverage
You know that water fountain across from Rose and Crown? Well someone put their droopy-diapered kid in it and he’s splashing away, having a good ol’ time. DON’T DRINK THE WATER
Fountains at France
We partook of Impressions de France to avail ourselves of the air conditioning
Via Napoli gets three thumbs up
We loved our meal. The crust of the pizza was limp except for the "handle" but the flavor was outstanding. We had the family salad first and then a large pizza – half was cheese and the other half a hodge-podge of eggplant, mushroom, artichoke and ham. With a pitcher of sangria, we are VERY happy for $21 each.
Did you name YOUR pizza oven?
Amusing pizza ovens at Via Napoli in EPCOT – named for volcanos!
We just couldn’t help ourselves
Mmmmm, sangria!
Where in Walt Disney World Am I?
Have yet to visit here…

I like this much better/more effective at night when it is all lit up

It’s hot, hot, hot in Orlando
We are going to tour inside as much as possible today. Maelstrom is a walk-on!
Interpreting the signs at EPCOT
Shovel now. Go this way. Or that way. But don’t walk ther!
More Flower and Garden Festival prep
Belle and Beast agreed to pose for me. It was fortunate that some powerful lights were upon them. They were snuffed while I was typing this! Um, the lights were snuffed, not Belle and Beast LOL 😉

Britain’s Better Bear
It’s Paddington Beaer! Being sold directly across the aisle from a pile of Duffy bears, stacked in proportions that can only be described as "vulgar". Ugly American consumerism strikes again.

Ah, Canada!
Yes, I know – it’s supposed to be "O, Canada!" but I felt like being different and expressing appreciation. I ate too much so I am doing the country walk to trfy and burn some off. Let’s go!

Chocolate cake from EPCOT’s France = not portable, much
My chocolate cake is smooshed but I bet it still tastes great. Of course I may be all bug-eyed and unable to sleep after indulging but that could happen these days without chocolate cake. I’ll takes me chances!

Chefs De France: Imagine salmon on this plate
It was delicious. Notice I managed to eat most of my spinach and leave most of my "white food" (trying to be low glycemic about things these days). We are taking dessert to go as we make our way to an Illuminations cruise.
